Your use of our web site and online shop is expressly conditional upon your acceptance of our General Terms and Conditions of Use and the following Privacy policy.
The British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association respects your privacy, and will never sell or knowingly pass on personal information gathered through our web site or online shop to any "third party" other than as declared below in this Privacy Policy, unless there is a legal or statutory obligation for us to do so.
Our use of cookies
Our website and on-line shop use cookies. These are used to provide services you request, and to provide additional functionality to enhance your user experience.
You can set your browser to reject cookies and delete any that have already been set. But you will experience a loss of functionality when visiting some pages on our website, and will not be able to use our on-line shop.
Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information. Cookies are downloaded to your device when you visit a website, then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit. You can find more information about cookies at: www.allaboutcookies.org and www.youronlinechoices.eu.
Before we explain in more detail how our website and on-line shop use cookies, a short explanation of some of the terminology used in the document would probably be helpful.
- Persistent Cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a set period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time you visit the website that created that particular cookie.
- Session Cookies: Cookies that allow us to link your actions during a browser session. A browser session starts when you open the browser window and finishes when you close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.
- First-party cookies: Cookies that are set by the website you are visiting, ie. the website displayed in the URL window of your browser.
- Third-party cookies: Cookies that are set by a domain other than that of the website you are visiting. If you visit a website and another entity sets a cookie through that website this would be a third-party cookie. For instance, two You Tube cookies will be set if you visit a page on our website that included an embedded You Tube video.
The cookies used on this website are listed below. The category shown is based on those used in the ICC UK Cookie guide:
-
Category 1: strictly necessary cookies
These cookies enable services you have specifically asked for. They are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies services you have asked for, like shopping baskets or e-billing, cannot be provided. -
Category 2: performance cookies
These cookies collect anonymous information on the pages visited. They collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don't collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works. -
Category 3: functionality cookies
These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience. They allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. For instance, a website may be able to provide you with local weather reports or traffic news by storing in a cookie the region in which you are currently located. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites. -
Category 4: targeting cookies or advertising cookies
These cookies collect information about your browsing habits in order to make advertising relevant to you and your interests. They are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the website operator's permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organization.
